Safe Steps Foundation Kenya advances gender equality by addressing the structural barriers that prevent women, girls, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised populations from fully participating in social, economic, and political life.
We apply a rights-based and community-led approach that strengthens local institutions, transforms harmful social norms, and promotes equal access to opportunities and essential services. Our interventions combine community dialogue, leadership development, public awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, capacity strengthening, and engagement with traditional, religious, and government leaders.
Together, these foster inclusive communities where everyone can live with dignity, exercise their rights, and contribute meaningfully to development. By strengthening local ownership and promoting positive social change, we support communities to become more resilient, equitable, and inclusive.

Girls' Mentorship & Safe Spaces
Mentorship of over 500 girls, building confidence, leadership, and advocacy skills through safe spaces where girls learn about their rights and reproductive health.
Alternative Rite of Passage
A dignified alternative to female genital mutilation, graduating girls with knowledge about their bodies, health, and rights, and challenging harmful practices.
Sanitary Pad Distribution
Keeping girls in school by removing the monthly barrier of menstruation, reducing absenteeism and improving academic performance.
Women's Economic Empowerment
Numeracy, business, and vocational skills training, women-led savings groups and enterprises, and education on rights, decision-making, and health.
Widows' Group Support
Livestock and group support that give widows a foundation for economic stability and independence.
Clean Water Access
